Asolare is a word coined by Pietro Bembo (1470-1547), Italian cardinal and humanist poet, to describe life in the court of Caterina Cornaro, queen of Cyprus, Jerusalem, and Armenia, exiled by the Serenisima to the Italian hill town of Asolo. Versions of this word were also used by Robert Browning in his poetry.
